How it Works
All registered voters would receive the same ballot in the partisan primary and the opportunity to vote for any candidate on the ballot. The top two vote-getters would advance to the general election, no matter what their party affiliation.
Five Reasons to Support Measure 65
-
Everyone deserves the right to vote in partisan primaries, not just Democrats and Republicans. What kind of state do we live in where 1/4 of the people are denied the most basic right to democracy?
- Voters should be allowed to choose the person they think is best qualified for the job, regardless of their party registration.
- An Open Primary will lead to higher voter turnout and participation.
- An overwhelming majority of Oregonians (74%) from across all demographics wants an Open Primary system.
- More than 130,000 Oregonians across the state brought this to the ballot.
